The 500LTS is a complete system which includes the 51BT body-pack transmitter, the Sony ECM-44H lavalier microphone and the 500UDR receiver. It is identical to the Azden 500LT system, with the exception of the ECM-44H replacing the EX-503H microphone. One of the most popular all-purpose lavalier mics on the market, the Sony ECM-44H is an industry standard for professional video. It is an omni-directional microphone that produces clean, warm voice tones and somewhat suppresses excess background and wind noise.
The 500UDR Enhanced Performance UHF Wireless Receiver represents a breakthrough in on-camera, frequency-selectable UHF receivers. Its 'Enhanced Performance' assures you of the highest image rejection combined with the finest in audio clarity. The crystal-controlled, PLL-synthesized mixer/local oscillator provides for extremely accurate frequency selection while the twin-antenna true diversity dual front-end reduces multipath distortion caused dropouts to near zero.
In the real world of ENG the ability to be able to select a 'clear' frequency on the spot is vitally important. Going out into the field with a single-frequency unit invites disaster since there is no way of knowing what frequencies will be used by the other crews that are covering the same story. Think of your 500UDR as your insurance policy -- your assurance of getting the
story.
Designed by professionals - for professionals, the 500UDR will provide you with years of worry-free, high-quality performance and will work flawlessly with the Azden 51BT frequency-agile body-pack UHF transmitter with 63 on-board user selectable UHF frequencies. The 51BT is a body-pack transmitter ideal for use with lavaliere and headset microphones. The 51BT is housed in a sleek, modern case with a metal belt-clip. It features a brand-new antenna design for improved transmission as well as new circuitry for lower noise levels.

Azden 500UDR Key Features
- 63 User-Selectable Frequencies
- The 500LTS is a frequency agile system, meaning that you choose the frequency of both the transmitter and receiver via the group and channel controls. The group knob allows you to select any of seven frequency groups (numbered from 0-6). The channel knob allows you to select any of nine frequency channels (numbered from 0-8) within the selected group. This method of group/channel selection provides 63 possible choices (794-806Mhz).
- Crystal-Controlled and PLL-Synthesized
- The crystal-controlled, PLL-synthesized mixer/local oscillator provides for extremely accurate frequency selection.
- Tone-Code Squelch
- Switching the Audio to OFF on the microphone will cause the receiver to mute due to the tone squelch circuitry in the receiver. This allows the microphone to be handled with no noise.
- Dual Antennas With BNC Connectors
- A true diversity front end with twin removable antennas reduces multipath distortion caused dropouts to near zero.
- XLR Output With Volume Control
- Headphone Output With Volume Control
- In-use monitoring is achieved through the provided ear phone jack which has a separate volume control.
- Operates on 6 AA Batteries or 12V DC
- Using 6 AA batteries, the 500UDR can operate for more than 8-1/2 hours. For even longer duty, the 500UDR can be powered by an external power source through its DC-IN jack.
- LED Indicators
- A/B ANT - depending upon which antenna is receiving the stronger signal, the A or B ANT LED will glow green when both the transmitter and receiver are turned ON and adjusted to the same frequency. Occasional rapid changing of the two LEDs is a normal indication of the diversity front-end working to reduce multipath distortion.
- AF PEAK - this indicator lights when the receiver's input level from the transmitter exceeds unity.
- POWER - with fresh batteries, this LED lights red when the power switch is turned ON. When the battery level drops to 4 volts this LED will flash on and off. When this happens it is time to replace the batteries.
- Velcro Mount
- The 500UDR easily attaches to the video camera with the supplied Velcro.
