Azden WDR-PRO VHF Wireless Receiver

Features in Detail | Recommended Accessories | Enlarged Image

A VHF "true-diversity" receiver, designed to help the videographer create quality audio with less chance of dropouts. The nature of RF signals is such that they bounce off walls or structures, creating "deadspots", or sudden loss of signal. The WDR-PRO -- with 2 selectable frequencies, 2 front-end receivers inside the case and 2 antennas -- has been designed to overcome this inherent problem. Both receivers are set to the same frequency, and the WDRPRO's circuitry selects the unit receiving the stronger signal from the microphone and accepts this signal. Hence, less chance of dropouts. The LEDs on the WDR-PRO turn from red to green as one receiver and then the other receives a stronger signal. Optional mini-to-XLR, and mini-to-¼" phone plug cable is available.

The WDR-PRO works with the microphone/transmitters from the Azden WMS-PRO, WH/X-PRO and WLX-PRO systems, and also with the Azden WX/T-PRO, WL/T-PRO and WM/T-PRO microphone/transmitters.

The incredible success of the PRO Series among professional videographers has prompted Azden to add 2 additional frequencies, 171.105 and 171.845, to the most popular professional models, the WR-PRO, WDR-PRO and WR22-PRO receivers and the associated WL/T-PRO, WM/T-PRO, and the WX/T-PRO transmitters. These additiional VHF frequencies will not interfere with Azden's long-established 169.445 and 170.245MHz models. If you wish to use the two new frequencies, order the WDR-PRO(S) model. Please be sure your transmitter is also the (S) model - WL/T-PRO(S), WM/T-PRO(S) - or the 169.445 MHz or 170.245 MHz WX/T-PRO.

Azden WDR-PRO Receiver Key Features

True Diversity Receiver
Designed for wireless performance less prone to dropouts than non-diversity systems, the WDR-PRO houses two separate receivers, each receiving on the same frequency. A diversity circuit inside the WDR-PRO monitors the sound coming from the microphone/transmitter and switches to the receiver (A or B) with the stronger signal.
Power and Frequency Selector Switches
The WDR-PRO operates on the low-interference VHF band and has two switchable frequencies: (F1) and (F2). A slide switch is used to turn each receiver on/off and another is used to select a frequency.

WDR-PRO: F1 - 169.445MHz, F2 - 170.245MHz
WDR-PRO(S): F1 - 171.105MHz, F2 - 171.845MHz

A and B LED Signal Indicators
The LEDs have two functions. If you power up the receiver when the transmitter is not on, both LEDs will light up red, indicating the battery is good. When both the receiver and transmitter are on and tuned to the same frequency, one of the LEDs will go from red to green, indicating that a signal is present between the units and which receiver, A or B, is receiving the stronger signal. During operation the green LED will switch back and forth between the A and B system as the unit continually searches for the better signal.
Shoe Mount
The receiver comes with a shoe mount for mounting to a video camera. You can also attach the receiver with the included velcro.
Output Plug
A mono mini plug to mono mini plug cable is supplied for cameras with an unbalanced mini jack input. Connect the plug from the receiver's BAL/OUT jack to the camera's Ext Mic Jack.
Output Volume Adjustment
The output volume of the WDR-PRO is preset, but can be adjusted if necessary with the supplied driver.
External Diversity Antennas
The WDR-PRO comes with two telescoping antennas.
