Gitzo presents a completely new Series 2 tripod that brings advanced materials, Gitzo technology, performance and quality to their aluminum tripod range. The castings are made of Soulid 238, Gitzo's unique technical compound 30% lighter than magnesium but just as strong and with great vibration dampening properties. Gitzo has incorporated a Basalt center column (20% lighter than aluminum) for further weight reduction and to improve stabilization and performance. Most importantly, the aluminum tube used for the legs is also new: 30% lighter than its predecessor, with Anti Leg Rotation system (ALR), 1.2mm wall thickness and brushed matte black finish for improved locking performance and minimized reflectivity.

Gitzo also puts technology to work on the leg warmers: light, soft and with a new ergonomic design that maximizes grip and comfort when the tripod is carried over the shoulder. Soulid 238^® Top Casting and Basalt Fiber Center Column

Gitzo presents a completely new Series 2 tripod that brings advanced materials, Gitzo technology, performance and quality to their aluminum tripod range. The castings are made of Soulid 238, specifically engineered for Gitzo camera support applications, a high tech compound using an exclusive mix of techno polymers which give performance indicators that lie between those of metals and composite materials. As strong as magnesium but 30% lighter, with the same thermal and dimensional stability of composites, Soulid 238 sets a new standard for lightness and compactness.

Gitzo has incorporated a Basalt center column for further weight reduction and to improve stabilization and performance. Basalt fibers are made of basalt rock which is crushed and melted at 2735°F (1500°C). The fibers are then transformed into a tube with the same technology used by Gitzo for carbon fiber. Basalt tubes are engineered to match Gitzo performance standards and maintain most of the features of 6X carbon fiber: high thermal and dimensional stability, light weight (20% less than aluminum).

Aluminum Alloy Tubes

Gitzo has launched a new aluminum tube: 30% lighter than its predecessor, 1.2 mm thick and with a built-in Anti Leg Rotation system (ALR) that improves leg locking performance. It features a brushed matte black finish that minimizes light reflection.

Spring-Operated Leg Angle Control Button

The new Soulid 238^® top casting has a spring-operated leg angle control button. When folding up the legs, you no longer need to manually operate the angle control button, so tripod closing is made a little quicker and easier.

Ground Level Set With 6.3-inch Minimum Height

For low angle shooting, the center column can be removed and the upper disc fitted directly to the tripod top casting. The disc is locked into position using the retractable column hook. The ground level configuration can be achieved in a few seconds without tools or extra components, and only the column need be removed. With this effective and simple built-in solution Gitzo has dramatically increased the ways you can use the tripod. The Gitzo ground level set is patent pending. The upper casting is now modified with an additional third leg spread angle for an ultra low position that allows you to take full advantage of the Ground Level Set allowing for ultra low shooting angles.

ALR (Anti Leg Rotation)

Gitzo's new Anti Leg Rotation system means the tripod can be opened in less than 15 seconds. Simply loosen all the twist locks on each leg at the same time, then pull the leg down and tighten the locks individually.

Rapid Column

The center column locking collar above the tripod shoulder makes it easier to adjust the column quickly. Series 1 and above are built with an anti-rotation grooved center column for improved stability.

The leg warmers' special variable diameter profile maximizes comfort when the tripod is carried on the shoulder or when you rest your hands on the tripod upper leg during use

Reversible Column

The rapid column can easily be inverted for an alternative shooting angle or low level macro work.

Built-in Hook

This built-in accessory allows you to hang a stabilizing weight (e.g. a full camera bag or a sand/water bag) from the bottom of the tripod center column. Useful with long heavy lenses, uneven ground or in windy conditions. The column hook assembly has been improved with a self-locking system that avoids accidental loss.

Removable Rubber Feet

The Gitzo GT2331 tripod is provided with removable rubber feet. This feature allows you to easily change worn out rubber feet or to fit other accessories, such as spiked feet or snow/sand shoes.
