The 055XPROB,808RC4 is a complete kit consisting of the Manfrotto 055XPROB Black Pro Tripod and the 808RC4 Three-Way Head. The patented 055XPROB has a unique design which allows the center column to be used horizontally as an extending arm, or vertically (both right-way-up and upside-down). When used horizontally, it can be turned through a 360-degree arc around the tripod, and is useful for macro work, low angle shooting, extreme balance points and off-center work.

The Manfrotto 808RC4 photo head combines features of many existing Manfrotto photo heads into one modernized design. The 808RC4 3-way head offers fixed counterbalance springs on both the vertical and horizontal tilt for camera control. These counterbalance springs can be turned off or on in three separate positions to meet the individual photographer's needs.

The Manfrotto 055XPROB Pro Tripod replaces Manfrotto's 3021PRO and 3021BPRO Pro Tripods. The 055XPROB makes the famous Manfrotto-patented horizontal center column feature even easier to use. By extending the column to its highest vertical position, it can be swung around to horizontal without removing the head or disassembling the column itself, so switching between framing and positioning setups is more convenient than ever. The ergonomics of the leg angle release mechanism and the quick action leg locks themselves have also been greatly improved.

Patented Manfrotto Horizontal Center Column Feature

The patented 055XPROB has a unique design which allows the center column to be used horizontally as an extending arm, or vertically (both right-way-up and upside-down). The horizontal column feature also allows the tripod to reach extremely low positions. The 055XPROB's center column can be quickly and easily swung from vertical to horizontal without any disassembly.

Four Different Leg Angle Pre-sets

Four pre-set independent leg angles -- 23°, 45°, 65° and 88° -- give the tripod great positioning flexibility and versatility, and allow all intermediate heights from the stated minimum to maximum levels to be reached. Stability is assured at all four angles by the spring-loaded step mechanism. Each of the legs can be set to a different angle of spread for more flexible, versatile positioning and to help keep camera equipment well-balanced over the tripod's center of gravity. The ergonomics of the leg angle release mechanism has been greatly improved compared to previous models.

Manfrotto 808RC4 Three-Way Head

The Manfrotto 808RC4 photo head, which replaces the existing 3047 and 329RC4 photo heads, combines features of many existing Manfrotto photo heads into one modernized design. The 808RC4 3-way head offers fixed counterbalance springs on both the vertical and horizontal tilt for camera control. These counterbalance springs can be turned off or on in three separate positions to meet the individual photographer's needs. The 808RC4 is constructed of aluminum and designed to support loads of up to 17.6 pounds, while being lightweight and small enough to pack in any camera kit. The 808RC4 features two large, easy to see spirit levels. A new modern handle design allows for ease of use and comfort.

Double Axis Spring System

The 808RC4 features the new Double Axis Spring System, which consists of one built in 3.3-pound spring for each of the front-to-back tilt and side-to-side tilt movements. This innovative solution, borrowed from the video industry, helps to move smoothly the camera while framing the picture as it negates some of the camera weight. Moreover, it absorbs the shock of bodies and lenses when reaching the end stop of the head movement. These springs also enable you to more comfortably handle heavier camera loads (such as very long lenses) with minimal effort. Both springs can be turned off when lighter loads are being carried and normal head operation is required.
