Replacing the 484RC2 mini ball, the Manfrotto 494RC2 Mini Ball Head With RC2 Rapid connect System 494RC2 is the same as the 494 Mini Ball Head, except that it is equipped with an RC2 (200PL-14) quick release camera plate system. The 200PL-14 quick release plate features a secondary safety catch and has 1/4" male thread. Head to tripod attachment is 3/8" female. The Manfrotto 494 Mini Ball Head is designed for use with compact, 35mm and small digital cameras. The strong die-cast construction, precision-machined aluminum housing and ball provide excellent smooth movements across all tilt positions. It has a new friction control knob plus a smart ratchet locking knob for 360-degree pan and plus/minus 90-degree tilt movements.

RC2 Quick Release Camera Plate System

The 494RC2 is equipped with the compact, rectangular 200PL-14 quick release plate system. The compact, rectangular 200PL quick release plate system fits neatly under small-bodied still cameras up to SLR (even with tele lenses) or small medium format, or under small video cameras or spotting scopes. Its rubber pad gives a good grip without damaging the camera, and its angled sides ensure that it also fits perfectly and tightly into a wide range of Manfrotto heads.

Secondary Security Lock

The 200PL-14 quick release camera plate features a secondary security lock so you can't accidentally release the plate (and camera) without meaning to. The lock stops the quick release lever from opening fully.

Friction Control Knob

A new friction control knob allows micro movements without having to engage the head locking mechanisms.

Smart Ratchet Locking Knob For 360-Degree Pan and Plus/Minus 90-Degree Tilt

A smart ratcheting locking lever allows the user to place it in a comfortable position in order to use it in the most convenient way. Just pull it outwards, put it in the best working position, and then release it. This makes working with the head easier and quicker. The locking lever securely locks the head both in the +90 degrees and -90 degrees ball positions and in the 360 degrees pan movements.

Easy Switching Between Landscape and Portrait

The double 90-degree groove (one on each side of the head) means switching from landscape to portrait is convenient however you're set up.
