Replacing the 488RC4 midi ball, the Manfrotto 498RC4 Mini Ball Head is the 498 Midi Ball Head equipped with an RC4 (410PL) quick release camera plate system. The 410PL quick release plate features a secondary safety catch and two spirit levels for precise leveling on both vertical and horizontal axes. The camera plate has 1/4-20" male thread. Head to tripod attachment is 3/8" female. With its solid aluminum construction, this head is the ideal support for all traditional or digital small or medium format cameras. It has a new friction control knob plus separate fast action smart ratchet locking knobs for 360-degree pan and the plus/minus 90-degree tilt movements. You can position your camera anywhere in a 180-degree sphere with confidence and ease.

RC4 Quick Release Camera Plate System With Secondary Security Lock

The 498RC4 is equipped with a 410PL quick release camera plate system. This heavy-duty plate also features a secondary security lock so you can't accidentally release the plate (and camera). The lock stops the quick release lever from opening fully. The 410PL quick release plate system offers a broader footprint ensuring a large stable point of contact between camera and plate, which improves stability with larger heavier camera equipment. The sliding screw adapts to the precise configuration of the camera.

Double Groove For Plus 90-Degree/Minus 90-Degree Tilt

The double 90-degree groove (one on each side of the head) means switching from landscape to portrait is convenient however you're set up.

A smart ratcheting locking lever allows the user to place it in a comfortable position in order to use it in the most convenient way. The locking lever securely locks the head both in the +90 degrees and -90 degrees ball positions and in the 360 degrees pan movements.
