Features in Detail | Enlarged ImageThe 501HDV,055XBK is a complete kit consisting of the Manfrotto 055XB Classic Tripod, the 501HDV Pro Video Head and the MBAG80 Tripod Bag. The 055XB Classic Tripod is one of the most versatile and popular tripods in the Manfrotto range. This tripod is lightweight and portable enough to take in the field, yet strong enough for a medium format camera, small view cameras, spotting scope and the latest generation of digital video cameras.
The 501HDV replaces the popular Manfrotto 501 Pro Video Head. It inherits its separate pan and tilt locks, gradual tilt friction adjustment system, flat base (with standard 3/8-inch thread), quick release camera plate and repositionable pan bar from its successful predecessor. Inside the 501HDV is a powerful new feature that takes its inspiration from Manfrotto's top professional video head models -- a fixed counterbalance spring that helps ensure both smoother tilt movements and greater equipment safety even when tilt locks are inadvertently left off. The easy-to-reach on/off switch allows the counterbalance system to be disengaged or re-engaged for different filming setups.
The MBAG80 Tripod Bag is made of durable ballistic nylon and is equipped with a shoulder strap and zip fastener.
Manfrotto 055XB Classic Tripod
The Manfrotto 055XB Classic Tripod replaces Manfrotto's 3021N and 3021BN Classic Tripods. Built on the same ergonomically improved design as the 055XPROB but without the horizontal center column feature, the 055XB is lighter in weight and slightly more compact. The 055XB is one of the most versatile and popular tripods in the Manfrotto range. This tripod is lightweight and portable enough to take in the field, yet strong enough for a medium format camera, small view cameras, spotting scope and the latest generation of digital video cameras.

- Four Different Leg Angle Pre-sets
- Four pre-set independent leg angles -- 23°, 45°, 65° and 88° -- give the tripod great positioning flexibility and versatility, and allow all intermediate heights from the stated minimum to maximum levels to be reached. Stability is assured at all four angles by the spring-loaded step mechanism. Each of the legs can be set to a different angle of spread for more flexible, versatile positioning and to help keep camera equipment well-balanced over the tripod's center of gravity. The ergonomics of the leg angle release mechanism has been greatly improved.

Manfrotto 501HDV Pro Video Head
Inside the 501HDV is a powerful new feature that takes its inspiration from Manfrotto's top professional video head models -- a fixed counterbalance spring (set for a typical camera plus accessories weight of 5.5 pounds) that helps ensure both smoother tilt movements and greater equipment safety even when tilt locks are inadvertently left off. The easy-to-reach on/off switch allows the counterbalance system to be disengaged or re-engaged for different filming setups. But from the outside, the first thing that you'll notice about the new 501HDV video head is its updated design -- completely retuned for much improved ergonomics with locks and knobs that allow a more solid grip and better fingertip control.
