The Manfrotto 808RC4 photo head, which replaces the existing 3047 and 329RC4 photo heads, combines features of many existing Manfrotto photo heads into one modernized design. The 808RC4 3-way head offers fixed counterbalance springs on both the vertical and horizontal tilt for camera control. These counterbalance springs can be turned off or on in three separate positions to meet the individual photographer's needs. The 808RC4 is constructed of aluminum and designed to support loads of up to 17.6 pounds, while being lightweight and small enough to pack in any camera kit. The 808RC4 features two large, easy to see spirit levels. A new modern handle design allows for ease of use and comfort.

Double Axis Spring System

The 808RC4 features the new Double Axis Spring System, which consists of one built in 3.3-pound spring for each of the front-to-back tilt and side-to-side tilt movements. This innovative solution, borrowed from the video industry, helps to move smoothly the camera while framing the picture as it negates some of the camera weight. Moreover, it absorbs the shock of bodies and lenses when reaching the end stop of the head movement. These springs also enable you to more comfortably handle heavier camera loads (such as very long lenses) with minimal effort. Both springs can be turned off when lighter loads are being carried and normal head operation is required.
