Canon DIGIC II Image Processing Engine

The SELPHY ES1 is only the second printer ever to incorporate Canon's renowned DIGIC II image processing engine. Based on the same technology used in Canon's professional digital SLRs, DIGIC II drives markedly improved print quality while also contributing to near-instant start up and fast operation. The result is a printer that has the ability to automatically correct and enhance printed images from most digital cameras. In addition to automatic red eye correction and exposure correction, the processor also controls the temperature of the 1,208 printing electrodes that produce the photograph, delivering a clean and crisp print in approximately 60 seconds.

Easy Photo Pack System

Specifically developed for the SELPHY ES1, Easy Photo Packs combine ink and paper in one cartridge -- users simply slot the cartridge into the printer to begin printing. Up to 50 prints can be produced at once (depending on cartridge used), allowing users to print an entire photo album without having to oversee the whole process. This convenient system also reduces the risk of spoiled prints since the paper is not exposed to dust or other environmental particles.

A choice of seven Easy Photo Packs is available in sizes ranging from postcard to credit card, each color coded for easy identification in-store and at home. The range includes a dedicated Black and White Easy Photo Pack for artistic monochrome prints.

Built-in 2.5-inch Color LCD Monitor

The SELPHY ES1 printer includes a high-quality 2.5-inch color LCD. This large, bright on-printer display lets you preview your images before you print. So you don't have to output test images. You'll save time and money. The LCD features a tilt-up mechanism plus a wide viewing angle for comfortable image preview and selection. Enhanced LCD playback options include full screen display, slideshows, thumbnail views and support for Auto Rotated images. The intuitive user interface also displays helpful information on battery levels and the amount of ink and media remaining.

Built-in Memory Card Slot

The ES1 offers built-in memory card slots. Seven types of memory cards can be used without an adapter: Compact Flash, Microdrive, Multimedia Card, SD memory card, SDHC memory card, Memory Stick and Memory Stick PRO. The ES1 also supports miniSD memory card, RS-MMC, xD Picture Card, Memory Stick DUO and Memory Stick PRO Duo with the addition of the appropriate adaptors, sold separately.

Engineered for superior picture quality, this printer has a resolution of 300 x 600-dpi and 256 levels of color so you can create richly detailed prints from digital cameras. Dye-Sublimation technology controls the ink flow to deliver a full range of realistic tones and shadings, so color is natural and true-to-life.

The ES1 printer creates water and fade resistant prints that last as long as traditional film prints. For durability, the ES1 adds a transparent, protective overcoating to each print that shields it from the damaging effects of sunlight and humidity. Just hit the Effect Button on the SELPHY ES1 compact photo printer and you can choose Vivid -- to print your images in bolder, more highly contrasted colors; Neutral -- to tone things down and create a more pastel effect; Sepia -- to give you prints the look of old-fashioned photographs or dramatic Black & White. Lighten or darken skin tones. Brighten reds, blues or greens.

Image Editing

Images can also be enhanced with new optimization features such as Automatic Red-Eye Correction. The ES1 compact photo printer has a trimming feature that make it easy to crop your shot before you print it. When you select 'Trim,' a frame appears over your image on the printer's LCD. Then, pick from 8 pre-set landscape and 5 portrait size trimmings to get exactly the picture you want. It couldn't be easier!

Bluetooth Wireless Photo Printing Option

The SELPHY ES1 Printer is compatible with Canon's BU-20 Bluetooth Adaptor. Available as an optional accessory to the SELPHY and PIXMA Photo Printers, this petite Bluetooth adaptor allows users to print photos wirelessly from most Bluetooth enabled devices, like computers, mobile phones and PDAs.

The SELPHY ES1 printer is also IrDA compatible. This allows users with IrDA compatible phones to send images to the printer for easy printout.
