Olympus Stylus 9000 Digital

Impressive zoom power that brings action incredibly close and a compact body designed to be taken along for the ride, make the Olympus Stylus 9000 one of the most powerful premium Stylus digital cameras ever. The 10x wide-angle optical zoom Stylus 9000 is a stylish compact model with 12 megapixels of detailed resolution for capturing brilliant images, and features like Dual Image Stabilization, Intelligent Auto, Face Detection, Shadow Adjustment Technology and In-Camera Panorama that take the guesswork out of great photography.

Finally, a pocket sized portable camera with the most powerful zoom lens in the history of the Stylus family! An impressive 10x wide-angle optical zoom lens (28mm-280mm equivalent in 35mm photography) captures wide vistas, large groups of family and friends, and also zooms in on distant objects to make them appear as though they are right in front of you. The new HyperCrystal™ III LCD, the next generation of Olympus' LCD technology, displays twice as bright as previous versions so that you can see the details even more clearly even under direct sunlight. Dual Image Stabilization combines two technologies -- mechanical Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization and Digital Image Stabilization -- to provide one powerful anti-blur solution for capturing great images whether the photographer or the subject is moving.

Designed-to-be-Digital Optics - 10x Wide-Angle Optical Zoom, 50x Total Seamless Zoom
Olympus photos are known worldwide for sharp, vibrant image quality. This is achieved through a number of key technologies, such as Olympus' high-refractive-index aspherical lens elements, designed specifically for digital cameras. The pocket-sized Stylus 9000 features the most powerful zoom lens in the history of the Stylus family. This impressive 10x wide-angle optical zoom lens (28mm-280mm equivalent in 35mm photography) captures wide vistas, large groups of family and friends, and also zooms in on distant objects to make them appear as though they are right in front of you. The 10x optical zoom combines with 5x digital zoom to deliver 50x total seamless zoom power.
Dual Image Stabilization
For the first time, Dual Image Stabilization is available on Olympus Stylus cameras in the tough category. In the cold climates where the Olympus Stylus 9000 thrives, you may shiver, but the camera performs sure and steady even in shaking hands. Dual Image Stabilization is an advanced combination of mechanical CCD-shift Image Stabilization and Digital Image Stabilization. CCD-shift Image Stabilization uses built-in electro-gyro sensors to record camera movement and adjust the CCD image sensor. This ensures that light remains centered on the image sensor to maintain image clarity despite a slight movement on the part of the photographer. Digital Image Stabilization Mode boosts ISO sensitivity and shutter speed so that images remain crisp and clear -- free from the blur caused by moving subjects. The combination of the two Image Stabilization Technologies ensures the best image clarity in virtually any shooting environment.
Intelligent Auto Mode
Tired of changing the settings on your camera every time you're shooting something different? The Stylus 9000's Intelligent Auto Mode automatically indentifies what you are shooting (Portrait, Landscape, Night + Portrait, Macro, Sports) and adjusts settings to capture the best quality results depending on the situation. First-time users will enjoy this quick and hassle-free feature, which does the thinking for them and produces incredible images like a pro.
12 Megapixel CCD (Effective)
The 12-megapixel CCD image sensor inside the Stylus 9000 delivers high-quality images that are consistently sharp and vivid even in large-format prints -- up to poster sizes as large as 16 x 20 inches.
Olympus Stylus 9000 Digital
2.7" HyperCrystal™ III LCD
The Stylus 9000 boasts a large, high-resolution HyperCrystal™ III LCD, which enables clear, high-contrast images. It increases the brightness of the LCD for better visibility in low-light and bright-light situations -- perfect for composing subjects underwater or in direct sunlight. The Stylus 9000 -- the flagship of the Tough line -- boasts an advanced HyperCrystal III LCD, which is Olympus' next generation of LCD technology. It displays twice as bright as previous versions so that you can see the details more clearly, even in direct sunlight.
Beauty Mode
Beauty mode touches up the appearance of subjects even while the shot is being taken. This feature recognises faces and automatically makes skin on the face and adjacent areas appear smoother, brighter and more youthful. It enables you to soften shadows and smooth wrinkles or blemishes on your subject's face -- all in the camera and as you capture the image. Additionally, subtle edits can be made post-capture using the Beauty Fix mode. Choose Clear Skin to smooth a person's complexion, Dramatic Eye to slightly emphasize the eyes, and Sparkle Eye to brighten and enhance the contrast of the iris and pupils. You can also apply all three edits at once.
Face Detection Auto Focus and Auto Exposure
Face Detection Technology tracks faces within the frame and automatically focuses (Face Detection AF) and optimizes exposure (Face Detection AE) for sharp, brilliant portrait pictures. Even if your subjects are moving, the camera continuously tracks your subjects' faces without having to press the shutter button.
Shadow Adjustment Technology
Shooting outdoors in bright daylight can be tricky because of the extreme contrast between dark shadowed areas and bright sunlight areas -- while the human eye is capable of detecting the nuances between dark and light and all the details in between, image sensors traditionally have not been quite as sensitive. The Stylus 9000 addresses this challenge head-on with Shadow Adjustment Technology, which compensates for extreme contrast where the shadow areas are underexposed and lack visible detail. With this technology, users can preview and capture images that have the same contrast as seen with the naked eye. Combined with Face Detection Auto Focus and Auto Exposure, the Stylus 9000 captures smiles in shadows without getting a dark image in difficult lighting such as in backlight situations. The technology can also be turned off for any shooting situation where shadows are a key element of a photograph's drama.
Perfect Shot Preview
The Stylus 9000 features a Perfect Shot Preview mode that enables users to view and select various photography effects on the multi-view screen before even snapping the shot. Perfect Shot Preview enables users to see precisely what the image will look like when adjustments are made, ensuring users are capturing the exact image they want. It's an ideal way for novice users to learn about the effects of different photography techniques, such as zoom, exposure compensation, white balance and metering.
Perfect Fix In-Camera Editing
The Stylus 9000 offers Red-Eye Fix and Shadow Adjustment Edit, in-camera editing features such as resizing, frames, text options, and saturation adjustments, enabling users to edit photos right in the camera. With the Perfect Fix function, multiple editing features can be applied at once.
TruePic™ III Image Processor
Olympus' enhanced TruePic III Image Processor produces crystal-clear photos using all the pixel information for each image to deliver superior picture quality with more accurate colors, true-to-life flesh tones and faster processing speeds. TruePic III also captures sharp images at high ISO settings, which are traditionally associated with increasing image noise or producing grainy photos.
Olympus Recommended Button
The Olympus Recommended button makes it easy to activate Olympus' unique features, including In-Camera Panorama, Shadow Adjustment and Perfect Shot Preview. Simply press the new OR button to easily access these commonly used features.
19 Selectable Shooting Modes Including Scene Preset Modes
With 19 shooting modes including Intelligent Auto and pre-programmed scene modes, such as Beach & Snow, Night Scene, Sunset, and Fireworks, the Stylus 9000 makes it easy to capture beautiful images in a variety of lighting and shooting situations. Get the best result in any situation with advanced options -- landscape, portrait, indoor, sunset and more.
Lithium-Ion Battery Power
The Stylus 9000 includes the LI-50B Li-Ion battery, which charges 2.5 times faster (two hours instead of five) than its predecessor. The new 925-mAh battery boasts a 25 percent increase in power.
xD-Picture Card™ Compatibility
Olympus and Fujifilm jointly developed the xD-Picture Card, a new type of memory media with an ultra-compact design about the size of a postage stamp, image storage capacity of up to 8 gigabytes, compatibility with different digital camera brands, and prices that are comparable to current SmartMedia™ cards. The name of the new xD-Picture Card was inspired by the words "eXtreme digital" to signify the excellence of this new memory media for recording, storing, and transporting audio-visual information.

Camera users concerned with compatibility of digital media between different brands of digital cameras will appreciate the xD-Picture Card's versatility. With a CompactFlash adapter the xD-Picture Card can be used with any CompactFlash compatible device for even more possibilities. A USB Reader/Writer provides easy computer connectivity, and a PCMCIA PC Card adapter for laptops and other devices ensures the easy downloading of data.

Although similar in some ways to all flash media, xD-Picture Cards are designed for increased durability and reliability despite their size. The small size of the card allows the design of even smaller, more stylish and powerful digital cameras.

microSD Memory Card Compatible
All Olympus digital point-and-shoot cameras accept xD-Picture Card media. The Stylus 9000 also comes equipped with an adapter which will enable microSD memory cards to be used when capturing images. The microSD cards are emerging in consumer electronic devices, including mobile phones and PDAs. Users can also easily display photos on their HDTVs.
45MB Available Built-in Internal Memory
You can capture images even when no media card is in the camera.
AVI Movies with Audio
With its Movie Mode, the Stylus 9000 can also record VGA-quality (640 x 480 / 30fps) AVI videos with sound, limited only by the size of the internal memory or memory Card in the camera.
PictBridge Enabled
The power of PictBridge™ technology enables your photos to be printed directly from the Stylus 9000 to any PictBridge-enabled printer without using a computer. And the one-touch 'Print' button makes printing a single-step process. Printing and sharing images has never been easier.
Built-in Multi-Mode Flash
The Stylus 9000 camera has a built-in flash that offers settings to provide a wide range of options.
  • Auto Flash fires automatically in low light or back-light, to help ensure the illumination is appropriate.
  • Red-Eye Reduction Flash Mode emits a series of pre-flashes right before the shutter snaps, allowing the subject's eyes to adjust to the light level of the flash -- reducing the red-eye effect.
  • Fill-In Flash Mode (forced on) adds light to eliminate shadows, for a more natural look in photos when your subject is in both bright light and dark shadow.
  • Flash Off Mode is available when flash photography is not permitted or to allow for long exposures for shots like sunsets and night scenes.
Auto-Connect USB 2.0 High Speed
Transferring images to the computer has never been easier with the Auto-Connect USB 2.0 that does not require software drivers (for most computers/operating systems) for hassle-free and high-speed image downloads.
In-Camera Panorama Mode
In-camera panorama mode captures three images and stitches them together to create one amazing panoramic picture. Simply press the shutter button and slowly pan across a panoramic scene. The second and third images will be captured automatically and stitched together with the first image -- resulting in one seamless panorama-size picture. To create the ultimate panoramic picture, consumers can use the Olympus Master Software 2 to stitch up to 10 images together.
Digital ESP Multi-Pattern and Spot Metering
Multi-Point Metering enables up to 8 separate points in the image area to be averaged for proper exposures in the most difficult lighting conditions.
Olympus Master™ 2 Software
Olympus Master™ 2 Software provides the ultimate in digital imaging management. An intuitive user interface makes downloading to your computer quick and simple, and images are easily organized by folders or albums and searchable by date in Calendar view. Additionally, with one-click editing tools, such as red-eye removal, images can be touched up before printing or e-mailing. Online support, templates, firmware upgrades and other user services are just a mouse-click away. Use the optional muvee™ Theater Pack to create professional quality slide shows and DVDs from your pictures using any of several built-in templates.
