Camcorders Feature Explanations:

1 - Shock-Mounted Hard Disc Drive
Panasonic SD card/hard-drive camcorders are ideal for travel and event shooting because they eliminate the constant need to change media. A hard drive can hold many times more data than an 8cm-DVD disc. To ensure continuous recording under rough conditions, the hard drives are protected by a floating, anti-shock damper system and an automatic sensor that detects falls 20cm and higher, automatically disengages the hard-drive write heads, and instantly transfers the video stream to the unit's buffer memory.

Performance enhancements achieved through the use of hard-drive storage media include near-instantaneous access to movies and still images selected via thumbnail images on the viewfinder, 2X USB downloads to a PC, and one-touch DVD creation using a dedicated 'DVD Copy' button on the camcorder, bundled copy software, and a PC equipped with a DVD burner.

2 - Built-in IC Memory With Relay Recording
The SDR-T70 is one of Panasonic's twin memory camcorders. A twin memory camcorder can record to its built-in memory or to an optional SDHC/SD Memory Card. The SDR-T70 has 4 GB* built-in memory, allowing for more than 3 hours of recording (in LP mode), and features a Relay Recording function.

The Relay Recording mode automatically switches from the built-in flash memory (once it's full) to the SDHC/SD Memory Card and continues recording**. You don't have to worry about missing an important shot while switching media. Later you can combine motion images that are split onto two types of media as a continuous scene in one of two ways. If the SD card has sufficient capacity, it's possible to arrange all of the split data as a single continuous scene on the SD card. If the SD card is not big enough to hold all of the split data, use a DVD burner to create a disc with all the moving pictures as a single continuous scene.

* 1 GB = 1,073,741,824 bytes. Usable capacity will be less.
** The SDHC/SD Memory Card must have memory space available that is larger than the data in the built-in memory to be merged.

3 - Built-in SD / SDHC / SDXC Memory Card Drive
SD memory cards are incredibly versatile, holding vast amounts of information and are about the size of a postage stamp. The SD / SDHC / SDXC card adds the option to record on removable media to these camcorders and scalability as well. If users do need to keep shooting before downloading a full drive, they can switch to the SD Card and continue recording without interruption.
4 - 2.7" Diagonal Widescreen LCD Monitor
These models feature a wide 2.7-inch LCD, making it easier to frame shots when you're shooting in 16:9 mode. You can enjoy shooting wide, and viewing wide. Also, scanning technology allows the LCD to show diagonal lines more sharply.
5 - Wind Noise Canceller
The technology of the previous Wind Cut function has evolved to form the Wind Noise Canceller. The Wind Noise Canceller function automatically detects and suppresses only wind noise, to give you natural sounds with lifelike ambience. Also, unlike the previous Wind Cut function, which switched to monaural recording, the Wind Noise Canceller enables stereo recording. This maintains natural sounds when shooting outdoors.
6 - USB 2.0 High Speed Connection
This convenient feature allows you to link the camcorder to your computer via the USB port. Then, you can easily transfer still images captured on SD memory card to your computer for use in e-mail or printed documents. These models support USB 2.0 High Speed enabling real time video transfers.
7 - Pure Color Engine
The Pure Color Engine converts the CCD output signal from a complementary color signal into an RGB signal at an early stage and extracts the low-frequency luminance component from the RGB signal. This innovative engine also achieves truly superb color reproduction for high-zoomed pictures.
8 - Scene Modes
Scene Modes automatically select the most suitable shutter speed and aperture for the shooting location and situation. Available modes include Sports, Portrait, Low Light, Spot Light, Snow, Beach, Sunset, Fireworks, Scenery and Night Scenery.
9 - Hi-Definition Optical Zoom / Enhanced Optical Zoom
Panasonic standard definition digital camcorders come with a powerful optical zoom. This powerful feature acts like a telescope to produce close-up shots with extraordinary clarity, so you won't miss a single detail. It also offers variable zoom speeds, so you can zoom in for close-ups, or zoom out for wide angle shots, using any of seven different zoom speeds.

The 78x Enhanced Optical Zoom has been added to the compact body of the easy-to-carry camcorder. By taking maximum advantage of the effective CCD area, the camera makes it easy to capture a wide range of dynamic images, from sweeping landscapes with the 33mm wideangle scope to close-ups of distant subjects with the 78x zoom, without having to worry about image degradation.

10 - Digital Zoom
Through the use of digital technology, the zoom ratio on Panasonic SD/HDD camcorders can be increased* even further, producing an incredibly close shot.

* As magnification increases, resolution significantly decreases.

11 - Color Night Rec. Mode
Color Night Rec gives you images with color even in dim lighting (2 lux).
12 - Soft Skin Mode
When this function detects skin tones, it softens the focus in that area. This has a skin beautifying effect, which makes wrinkles and lines appear less noticeable. When turned on, this function makes blemishes and moles look less conspicuous, while preserving resolution in areas of the picture outside of the skin.
13 - Advanced O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer)
The zoom lens has the power you need to take dramatic closeups or get remarkable shots of even distant subjects. But with long-distance zoom shots, even a tiny bit of hand shake has a huge effect on picture quality. That's where image stabilization comes in. Panasonic's Advanced O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization) shifts a corrective lens as you shoot to eliminate the effects of hand shake, so you get clear, sharp, blur-free shots even at high zoom levels. It's an essential feature for getting the most out of this incredible zoom lens. Panasonic's Advanced O.I.S. is an image stabilizing function that achieves around eight times higher precision than their previous system. The system uses gyro-sensors to detect handshake, then shifts a lens and adjusts its optical axis to compensate. Advanced O.I.S. enables finer, more effective hand-shake compensation.
14 - Auto Power LCD
The LCD brightness can be adjusted manually to suit the surroundings. In Auto mode, the LCD brightness is adjusted automatically in 16 smooth steps depending on the surroundings. In darker rooms it adjusts to a lower brightness, making it easier to frame the shot. Outside, it adjusts to around twice the brightness for easy viewing even on sunny days.
15 - 0.8-Second Quick Start Mode, 1.9-Second Quick Power-On
Switch the power on and the camcorder is in standby mode in approx. 1.9 seconds*, ready to shoot when you are. When the LCD is closed, the power automatically switches off. This fast startup and automatic shutdown also help reduce battery consumption. Using Quick Start mode, you simply flip open the LCD and you're ready to shoot in just 0.8 second**. When Eco mode is also used, the power turns off whenever the camcorder has not been operated for 5 minutes. This reduces wasted power consumption, and enables a longer battery life.

* Depending on the recording conditions, start time may be longer than 1.9 seconds in still picture recording mode.
** Depending on the recording conditions, start time may be longer than 0.8 seconds in still picture recording mode.
16 - One-Touch Navigation and Joy Stick Control
With One-Touch Navigation, just press the center of the joystick to display an operating menu. The operations you use most often are right on the monitor, so it's easy to change settings or operate the camera without looking away from your subject. The joystick makes the camera much easier to use, letting you control all basic operations with one hand.
17 - Pre-Rec Function
This clever function records three seconds of images even before you actually begin shooting. The images are held temporarily in the camcorder's internal memory, before recording onto the HDD or SDHC/SD Memory Card begins. This helps ensure that you won't miss the start of a moment you want to record, such as when an event begins all of a sudden. For example, if you're waiting to snap a shot of a jumping dolphin, you can press the REC button after you've made sure that the dolphin has cleared the surface of the water. The camcorder will record the entire scene, from the instant of the dolphin's jump until it disappears again into the sea.
18 - iA (Intelligent Auto)
Intelligent Auto Mode makes optimal settings automatically -- for both still and motion images. Sometimes a scene is backlit or too dark, or it's difficult to get a good focus on the subject. Adjusting the settings every time is not only a hassle, it can be very tricky. That's where iA comes in. This powerful function senses the shooting conditions and automatically makes the settings and activates functions that will deliver optimal results. With both motion and still images, iA lets you forget about bothersome settings and makes it easy to capture beautiful, well-focused images.
