Panasonic BB-HCM371A Network Camera

The Panasonic BB-HCM371A Network Camera can be placed virtually anywhere, indoors or out, with wired or wireless operation. Its high-speed wireless LAN capabilities include 802.11g only mode and 802.11g and 802.11b simultaneous mode. Also, the wireless LAN function can be suspended. The splash resistant body allows the camera to be used indoors or outdoors. Use of its built-in microphone and a separately purchased amp-equipped speaker enables two-way voice communication between the network camera and a PC used to monitor the camera image. And dual-stack IPv4/IPv6 protocol prepares it for IPv6 services.

Place this Plug and Play camera almost anywhere you'd like to keep an eye on things, with no PC required on location! Panasonic Network Cameras can be viewed and controlled from a standard web browser. They're easy to install, easy to operate, and require no additional software for viewing on your PC or cell phone. Panasonic network cameras are a great way to keep an eye on your home, business, or just about anywhere else. You can view images from a compatible PC, Cell Phone, PDA, or Television. Each camera is web-enabled, so no PC is required at the camera location; all you need is a broadband connection. View multiple local or remote cameras on your TV (with optional TV adapter) with zoom, pan and tilt control.

Panasonic BB-HCM371A Key Features

Indoor / Outdoor Network Camera
The Panasonic BB-HCM371A Network Camera has a splash resistant body. The splash resistant body allows the camera to be used indoors or outdoors.
High Speed Wireless LAN Capability
The Panasonic BB-HCM371A Network Camera corresponds to the wireless system based on IEEE 802.11b/g. Wireless installation will play an increasing role in flexible mounting. Encryption establishes the security on the wireless network. IEEE 802.11g has 2 modes: 1. the 802.11g only mode, and 2. the 802.11g and 802.11b simultaneous mode. Also, the wireless LAN function can be suspended. Communication via Ethernet cable is also available. It is not possible to access the camera simultaneously by both wired and wireless connection.
Two-Way Voice Communications With Built-in Microphone
Use of the built-in microphone and a separately purchased amp-equipped speaker enables two-way voice communication (transceiver system)* between the network camera and a PC used to monitor the camera image. Voice transmission and reception can be switched easily from the PC used to monitor the image. For example, it allows people in a head office to provide instructions or messages to people on a sales floor while observing the image on their PC.

* This function can be used with a PC only. It cannot be used with a mobile phone. To hear the voice transmitted from the PC, a commercially available speaker with a built-in amp must be installed. The transceiver system does not allow simultaneous transmission and reception of voices. The BB-HCM371 may require a version upgrade to operate in the IPv6 environment.

IPsec Security Function
IPsec is a technology used to encrypt data packets in order to prevent eavesdropping by third parties. When combined with a conventional authentication function based on user names and passwords, IPsec offers enhanced security.
120-Degree Pan, 65-Degree Tilt and Digital Zoom With Presets
Alarm-Controlled and Timer-Controlled Image Transfer Functions
The Alarm-Controlled Image Transfer function uses a commercially available external sensor or switch and sends the image only when there is an action such as turning on the light or opening the door. The Timer-Controlled Image Transfer function automatically transmits images according to the set time zone and the day of the week. These convenient functions eliminate your need to constantly check the image.

When e-mail function is used to transfer images or messages, e-mail transmission may not be possible in some cases due to the mail server authentication system (SMTP authentication, etc.) used by your Internet service provider. The image transfer functions can be used only with a PC. With a cell phone, only the e-mail transmission function can be used.

External Device Control Output
This provides ON/OFF operation of an externally connected device. For example, it can be used to turn on a light when the surrounding area becomes dark or to turn on a buzzer in case of an emergency.
Motion JPEG Video
Motion JPEG is recommended for recording higher quality images. Three image quality modes (Favor Clarity, Standard, Favor Motion) are available.
SD Memory Card Slot Recording
A large number of images can be saved onto an SD Memory Card inserted into the camera. The images on the card can be checked over the Internet, or if no network is being used, monitoring is possible using only the camera by simply storing the images onto the card. If you enable alarm buffer/transfer, you can record the image at the timing of signal detection of door sensor or light. About 58,000 images (320 x 240 resolution and standard quality) can be recorded to 1 GB SD memory card. If you enable 1-minute interval timer buffer/transfer, you can record the images for about 41 days.
0.2 Lux Color Night View Mode
When the subject darkens, the camera automatically adjusts the brightness to show you the image. The Color Night View Mode brings the minimum light requirement down to 0.2 lux, letting you capture images even in dimly lit places.
IPv4 / IPv6 Dual-Stack
Panasonic's new network cameras allow the use of a virtually unlimited number of IP addresses by supporting IPv6, a next-generation protocol. The IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack feature enables you to use IPv4 at the present and switch over to IPv6 in the future.
Ethernet (10Base-T/100Base-TX) Network Interface
Remote Control From PC or Cell Phone
The camera pans or tilts fast in maximum 80° per second. You can control the camera at high speed from your PC or cell phone. Alarm position feature also allows the camera to automatically turn the lens to the alarm position. Additionally, the following control features are available to easily and quickly monitor the camera.
  • Click to Center: When you click a certain point on the camera image, the point is centered on the image.
  • Preset Position: You can register 8 preset positions. When you click each button, the image switches to its position.
  • Output Control: You can control the external devices (Open or Short to GND) (E.g., turning the light on or ringing a buzzer).
10 Frames Per Second Maximum 640 x 480 Video
Cell Phone Monitoring
Still images from the camera can be checked on a cell phone that is capable of normal web access and JPEG viewing. The pan, tilt, and zoom functions can also be operated from the cell phone.
Supports Viewnetcam.com Service
Viewnetcam.com service allows you to access the camera over the Internet with your favorite domain name (e.g. bob.viewnetcam.com) instead of a global IP address.
Enhanced Multi-Camera Page
Multi-Camera page displays up to 4 cameras while supporting each audio 2-way communication. The previous model displays only 4 cameras, but this camera can switch 3 sets of 4 cameras. Additionally, the camera can displays maximum 12 cameras on a page in a static image.
Up To 30 Simultaneous Video Users
